As a Registered Nurse in Ambulatory Surgery Services, you will collaborate closely with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and surgical staff to ensure patient safety and comfort before, during, and after surgical procedures.

General Summary

This role involves utilizing sterile techniques and specialized equipment to assist in surgical interventions, while maintaining a focus on patient-centered care and safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to maintain an optimal care environment.
• Deliver high-quality nursing care encompassing medication administration, nursing interventions, and patient and family education.
• Conduct thorough initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance safety, and provide accurate updates to the healthcare team.
• Document all patient care activities and quality monitoring data accurately to support compliance with core quality measures.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, team members, patients, and families to improve outcomes and promote a positive care experience.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability within the surgical care team.
• Adapt positively to the dynamic healthcare environment, incorporating critical thinking and pursuing ongoing professional development.

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Experience

At least one year of acute care nursing experience is preferred.

Certification/License

• Current Registered Nurse license valid in a Compact State or the state of employment.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Mental/Physical Requirements

This position requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases, as well as occasional encounters with hostile individuals, may occur. Minimal physical discomfort is expected.
