This role serves as the primary point of contact for orthopedic and podiatry clinics, managing communications both by phone and at the front desk. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, excellent customer service, and strong organizational skills to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Promptly answer and direct telephone calls with courtesy and efficiency.
- Warmly greet patients and visitors, ensuring a respectful and compassionate experience.
- Communicate clearly with patients and their families, keeping them informed throughout their visit.
- Accurately collect and enter demographic and insurance information into the system.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with privacy regulations regarding patient information.
- Schedule appointments following established protocols and assist patients with patient portal setup and registration.
- Conduct patient confirmation calls and guide patients to complete necessary paperwork electronically.
- Handle messages promptly and update patient records as needed during each encounter.
- Verify insurance coverage, collect co-payments, and explain financial agreements to patients.
- Demonstrate accountability, adaptability, teamwork, and maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Preference given to graduates of accredited medical receptionist programs or candidates with two years of healthcare experience.
Experience
Preferably two years of experience in a general medical office or similar healthcare setting, with demonstrated responsibility and customer service skills.
Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
Physical and Mental Requirements
This position requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.
Work Environment
Work is performed in a medical office setting with potential exposure to infectious diseases and occasional encounters with difficult individuals. Minimal physical discomfort is expected.
