As an Advanced RN Oncology Nurse Coordinator, you will play a vital role in supporting physicians and mid-level providers by delivering comprehensive assessment, treatment, testing, and education to oncology patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate all aspects of oncology and hematology treatment plans, ensuring adherence to established protocols and maintaining a safe, clean environment.
• Continuously evaluate patient care plans and prepare patients for appointments by screening and ensuring all necessary assessments and test results are complete.
• Manage and update patient medication and summary lists in collaboration with providers.
• Document patient care accurately and thoroughly in medical records.
• Verify medication dosages as part of treatment plans and assist with examinations and procedures within your scope of practice.
• Coordinate care with internal and external ancillary services, including specialty pharmacies and supportive services.
• Provide counseling and education to patients and families on all aspects of oncology and hematology, including preventative measures.
• Maintain authorization for patient medications and procedures, oversee sample medications, and ensure quality control.
• Administer medications safely according to protocol and assist in maintaining emergency equipment.
• Ensure all instruments are sterile and ready for procedures, including accessing implanted ports with sterile technique.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams to maintain a safe and effective continuum of care.
• Document treatments, observations, and investigational protocol information as required.
• Maintain ongoing oncology education to meet accrediting agency requirements.

Education

Graduation from an accredited Registered Nurse program is required. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.

Experience

At least one year of healthcare experience is preferred.

Certifications and Licenses

• Current RN license in a Compact state or the state of Missouri is required.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
• Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) is preferred.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity, including lifting up to 35 pounds, frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Expect minimal physical discomfort with frequent exposure to communicable diseases, radiation, anti-neoplastic agents, sharps, and other biohazardous materials. The ability to function effectively under stress is essential.
