General Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) Shift Manager delivers direct patient care through the nursing process, demonstrating clinical expertise in psychiatric nursing and adhering to the ANA Code of Ethics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to ensure a safe care environment.
• Maintain and care for central lines and prevent surgical site infections following policy guidelines.
• Provide high-quality nursing care including medication administration, nursing interventions, and patient and family education.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, improve quality, and enhance safety.
• Document all patient care activities and quality monitoring to support clinical decisions and compliance.
• Communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare team members to optimize patient outcomes.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Engage with patients and families promptly to enhance their experience and support health outcomes.
• Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to develop skills.

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Experience

At least one year of nursing experience is preferred.

Certification and Licensure

Current RN license valid in the state or through Compact Licensure. Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
