As an Advanced Oncology Nurse Coordinator, you will collaborate closely with physicians and mid-level providers to deliver comprehensive assessment, treatment, testing, and education for oncology patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate all aspects of oncology and hematology treatment plans, ensuring adherence to established protocols and maintaining a safe, sterile environment.
• Evaluate patient care plans continuously and prepare patients for appointments by screening and verifying necessary assessments and test results.
• Manage and update medication and summary lists in partnership with providers, documenting all patient care accurately in medical records.
• Verify medication dosages, assist with examinations and procedures within scope, and coordinate care with internal and external ancillary services including specialty pharmacies.
• Provide counseling and education to patients and families on oncology and hematology topics, including preventative measures.
• Maintain authorization for medications and procedures, oversee sample medications, and ensure safe administration of all treatments.
• Support emergency preparedness by assisting with crash cart maintenance and ensuring all instruments are sterile and ready for use.
• Access implanted ports using sterile techniques and collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams to maintain a safe continuum of care.
• Document investigational protocol information and ensure patient understanding of investigational drug materials.
• Stay current with oncology education requirements as mandated by accrediting bodies.

Education

Graduation from an accredited RN program is required. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.

Experience

At least one year of healthcare experience is preferred.

Certifications and Licenses

• Current RN license in a Compact state or the state of Missouri is required.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
• Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) is preferred.

Physical and Mental Requirements

This role demands considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs, frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching. The position involves exposure to communicable diseases, radiation, anti-neoplastic agents, sharps, and other biohazardous materials. Ability to perform under stress and maintain punctuality is essential.
