General Summary

Under the supervision of an RN, LPN, or shift manager, the Assistant Patient Care Technician performs vital patient care tasks, contributing to a safe and supportive environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and timely communication of patient condition changes.
• Perform basic care activities such as monitoring vital signs, glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility.
• Collaborate closely with nursing staff to meet patient needs promptly and enhance their overall experience.
• Accurately document all care activities to support clinical decision-making and team communication.
• Effectively communicate relevant patient information to healthcare team members to improve outcomes.

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Experience

One year of experience and certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred.

Certification/License

For those uncertified or with less than one year of experience, completion of a PCA training academy is required. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, and various movements such as turning, pushing, pulling, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
