General Summary

Under the guidance of a licensed nurse, the Clinical Intern performs essential duties to assist patients with daily living activities and clinical care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care tailored to individual needs, including assistance with hygiene such as bathing, hair care, oral hygiene, and grooming.
• Deliver skin care while taking precautions to prevent skin breakdown.
• Support physical activities including repositioning, ambulation, range of motion exercises, and transfer techniques.
• Assist with nutritional needs by preparing patients for meals, managing trays, feeding as necessary, and documenting intake while adhering to dietary restrictions.
• Collect specimens, perform vital signs, and document intake and output accurately.
• Perform sit baths, postmortem care, and apply therapeutic devices like TED hose, K-pads, ice packs, and binders.
• Lead and encourage participation in performance improvement initiatives and teamwork.
• Carry out technical procedures and nursing interventions within credentialed scope, including oxygen therapy management, catheter insertion/removal, intravenous therapy discontinuation, nasopharyngeal suctioning, dressing changes, wound care, and skin management.
• Conduct patient assessments and collaborate closely with primary nurses.
• Administer intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, maintain NG tubes, and provide patient and family education alongside nursing staff.
• Immediately report any changes in patient condition or concerns to licensed nurses.
• Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of all patient care activities in medical records and designated forms.

Education

Currently enrolled in a nursing program or completed nursing education but not yet licensed.

Experience

Entry-level position; no prior experience required.

Mental/Physical Requirements

This role requires significant mental focus and physical activity, including frequent walking, lifting, turning, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.

Working Conditions
