Join a dynamic healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest as an Assistant Director of Patient Access. This role is pivotal in ensuring a seamless and efficient patient registration process while supporting leadership in optimizing revenue cycle operations.

General Summary

The Assistant Director of Patient Access collaborates closely with the Director to oversee registration functions, train staff, and implement policies that enhance patient access services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support management of the overall patient registration and admission processes.
  • Work alongside registration teams, including clinic staff, to ensure accurate and efficient patient data collection.
  • Assist in developing and enforcing policies and standard operating procedures related to patient access.
  • Provide training and ongoing support to registration personnel to maintain compliance with best practices.
  • Monitor key performance indicators to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Address and resolve patient access and registration issues promptly.
  • Stay current with industry regulations to ensure departmental compliance.
  • Oversee work queue productivity, identify recurring errors, and implement re-education strategies.
  • Develop and execute annual competency assessments for the registration team to promote professional growth.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and goal setting alongside the Director of Patient Access.

Education

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.

Experience

Applicants should have three to five years of relevant experience in patient access or similar departments, with at least two years in a supervisory or management role preferred. Experience in both patient access operations and business office functions is advantageous.

Certification/License

Certification such as CHAA or CHAM is preferred.

Mental/Physical Requirements

This position requires considerable mental focus for extended periods, often with interruptions. Light lifting up to 15 lbs., standing, sitting, and walking are part of the daily routine.

Working Conditions

Typical office environment with potential noise and distractions. Frequent computer use may cause eye strain. Occasional exposure to infectious agents or challenging individuals may occur.
