Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, providing vital diagnostic ultrasound services. As an Echo/Vascular Sonographer, you will perform cardiac and vascular sonography procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the diagnostic process.

General Summary

Utilize your expertise in ultrasound technology to conduct diagnostic exams, analyze sonographic images, and communicate findings effectively to physicians. You will be responsible for maintaining equipment, adhering to safety protocols, and supporting quality assurance initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety policies including infection control, contrast agent administration, and patient handling.
• Perform clinical assessments and diagnostic sonography exams using cognitive sonographic skills to adapt procedures based on patient anatomy and pathology.
• Analyze sonograms, synthesize information with medical history, and report findings to the appropriate medical staff.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures.
• Maintain ultrasound equipment and supplies, reporting malfunctions and ensuring cleanliness.
• Participate in laboratory accreditation and quality assurance activities.
• Exercise independent judgment to distinguish between normal and pathological findings.

Education

Graduation from a Cardiac/Vascular Sonographer program is required. Candidates must be eligible to sit for the RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) and/or RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist) or equivalent credentials.

Experience

At least one year of experience in adult cardiac or vascular sonography is required.

Certification/License

• RDCS and/or RVT certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
• Registration in Echocardiography or Vascular Ultrasound within 18 months of hire.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association.

Mental/Physical Requirements

This role requires frequent standing, walking, lifting up to 150 lbs, and physical activities such as pushing, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching. Strong mental focus is essential for extended periods.

Working Conditions

Exposure to infectious diseases and other hazardous conditions is a routine part of this role.
