As an Assistant Patient Care Technician, you will work under the supervision of licensed nurses to provide essential direct patient care that supports safety and comfort.

General Summary

Under the guidance of an RN, LPN, or shift manager, you will assist with vital patient care tasks, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention and safe patient handling.
• Perform basic care duties such as taking vital signs, glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility.
• Collaborate closely with nursing staff to meet patient needs promptly and enhance their overall experience.
• Accurately document patient care activities to support clinical decision-making.
• Communicate relevant patient information to healthcare team members to improve outcomes.

Education

High school diploma or GED is preferred.

Experience

One year of experience and certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred.

Certification/License

If uncertified and with less than one year of experience, attendance at a Patient Care Assistant training academy is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, and various movements such as turning, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
