As an Administrative Patient Services Representative, you will play a vital role in managing patient flow and ensuring a welcoming experience for all visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Warmly greet and assist patients with professionalism and respect.
- Register patients by accurately collecting demographic and insurance information.
- Enter patient data into electronic systems with precision and minimal errors.
- Collect co-pays and handle telephone inquiries promptly, including triaging patient calls.
- Coordinate communication between patients and clinical staff to support care needs.
- Manage incoming referrals by gathering necessary records, films, and orders for appointments.
- Scan and organize patient documents and charts efficiently.
- Schedule and track patient appointments, including obtaining authorizations when required.
- Collaborate with team members to complete work queues and correct identified errors within the electronic health record system.
Education
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Preference will be given to candidates who have graduated from an accredited medical receptionist program or possess at least two years of experience in a healthcare setting.
Experience
Two years of medical clerical experience in an office environment is preferred, along with proficiency in word processing and personal computing. Experience with medical insurance processes is also advantageous.
Requirements
No specific certifications or licenses are required. The role demands close mental and visual attention for extended periods and the ability to work under stressful conditions due to customer demands. Physical requirements include the ability to stand, walk, sit, and carry or lift items up to 10 pounds, as well as perform tasks involving turning, pushing, pulling, and stooping.
Working Conditions
Exposure to patients with infectious diseases, occasional disagreeable odors, and a noisy, high-traffic work environment may occur.
