General Summary

Under the supervision of a licensed nurse (RN, LPN, or shift manager), the Assistant Patient Care Technician delivers direct patient care with a focus on safety and quality outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and timely communication of patient condition changes.
• Perform basic patient care tasks such as monitoring vital signs, glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility activities.
• Collaborate closely with nursing staff to meet patient needs promptly and enhance the overall patient experience.
• Accurately document all patient care activities to support clinical decision-making by the healthcare team.
• Effectively communicate relevant patient information to appropriate team members to improve care quality and outcomes.

Education

High school diploma or GED is preferred.

Experience

At least one year of experience and certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred.

Certification/License

Those without certification or with less than one year of experience are required to complete a specialized PCA training academy. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role demands considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, stooping, and reaching.

Working Conditions
