General Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers patient-centered care by applying the nursing process and demonstrating clinical expertise in surgical orthopedics. Adherence to the ANA Code of Ethics and hospital policies ensures optimal patient outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Implement patient safety protocols including infection prevention, safe handling, and critical lab notifications.
• Maintain central lines and prevent surgical site infections following established guidelines.
• Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and provide education to patients and families.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status and support clinical decisions.
• Document all care activities and quality measures accurately to enhance patient safety and outcomes.
• Communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare team members to coordinate care.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Engage patients and families with timely communication to improve their healthcare experience.

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Experience

At least one year of nursing experience is preferred.

Certification and Licensure

• Current RN license valid in the state or through Compact Licensure.
• Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Mental and Physical Requirements
