General Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers direct patient care by applying the nursing process with clinical expertise tailored to emergency nursing. This role upholds the highest standards of professional ethics and patient safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to maintain a secure care environment.
• Manage and care for central lines and implement measures to prevent surgical site infections according to policy.
• Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and provide education to patients and families to promote health outcomes.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance quality, and support clinical decision-making.
• Document all patient care activities and quality metrics accurately to comply with regulatory standards.
• Communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare team members to optimize patient outcomes.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability within the care team.
• Engage patients and families with timely communication and education to improve the overall care experience.
• Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to enhance skills and knowledge.

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Experience

At least one year of nursing experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Requirements

• Current RN license valid in the state or Compact Licensure.
• Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Mental and Physical Demands

This position requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and reaching.
