This role involves working under the supervision of licensed nurses to ensure patient safety, particularly for those with medical or suicidal conditions.

General Summary

As a Patient Sitter, you will offer continuous observation and assist with minimal activities of daily living (ADLs), maintaining a strong focus on safety and dignity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention and safe patient handling.
• Collaborate closely with nursing staff to meet patients' basic needs and promptly respond to requests.
• Provide 1:1 observation for patients requiring constant supervision, ensuring seamless safety coverage.
• Accurately document patient behaviors and activities according to policy timelines.
• Communicate relevant patient information to the care team to enhance outcomes and safety.
• Maintain professionalism and adaptability in a dynamic healthcare environment.
• Respect patient confidentiality and uphold the dignity of care during all interactions.

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Experience

At least one year of experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.

Certification/License

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role requires strong mental concentration and excellent communication skills. Physical demands include standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious diseases and potentially hostile or agitated individuals. Minimal physical discomfort is expected.
