General Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering quality nursing care, including medication administration, nursing interventions, and patient and family education. This position requires adherence to safety protocols and hospital policies to ensure an optimal and safe environment for patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Follow established safety measures such as infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications.
• Maintain and care for central lines and prevent surgical site infections according to policy.
• Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status and support clinical decision-making.
• Document all patient care activities and quality monitoring items to comply with standards.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, healthcare team members, patients, and families to enhance outcomes and experience.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Engage in continuing education to develop critical thinking and nursing skills.

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing school is required.

Experience

At least one year of nursing experience is preferred.

Certification and License

• Current RN license valid in the state or compact licensure.
• Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role requires considerable mental concentration and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
