As an Assistant Patient Care Technician (PCA), you will work under the guidance of licensed nurses to provide essential direct patient care that supports safety and comfort.

General Summary

Under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN), licensed practical nurse (LPN), or shift manager, the PCA delivers basic patient care services, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and timely communication of patient condition changes to nursing staff.
• Perform routine patient care tasks such as monitoring vital signs, conducting glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility activities.
• Collaborate closely with nursing personnel to meet patient needs promptly and enhance the overall patient experience.
• Accurately document all patient care activities to support clinical decision-making and continuity of care.
• Effectively communicate relevant patient information to the healthcare team to improve outcomes and quality of care.

Education

A high school diploma or GED is preferred.

Experience

This role is ideal for individuals new to patient care, as a comprehensive training program is provided.

Certification and Licenses

Uncertified candidates with less than one year of experience must complete a specialized PCA training academy. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within the first 90 days of employment, with training provided.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This position demands significant mental focus and physical activity, including lifting up to 35 pounds, frequent walking, standing, bending, and other movements necessary to assist patients safely.
