This role serves as the primary point of contact for physician clinics, managing telephone communications and front desk operations with professionalism and warmth. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Promptly answer and direct telephone calls.
- Greet patients warmly and communicate clearly with patients and their families.
- Accurately collect and enter demographic and insurance information.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with privacy regulations.
- Schedule appointments following established protocols.
- Assist patients and guardians with patient portal setup and registration.
- Make confirmation calls and guide patients through necessary paperwork.
- Handle messages promptly and update patient records as needed.
- Verify insurance coverage and collect co-payments at the time of service.
- Demonstrate accountability, teamwork, and reliability under pressure.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. Preference given to graduates of accredited medical receptionist programs or candidates with two years of healthcare experience.
Experience
Preferably two years of experience in a general medical office or similar healthcare setting, with demonstrated customer service skills.
Certification
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
Mental and Physical Requirements
Requires considerable mental focus. Physical activities include lifting up to 35 lbs, frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.
Work Environment
Medical office setting with potential exposure to infectious diseases and occasional challenging interactions. Minimal physical discomfort expected.
