General Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive patient care through the nursing process, demonstrating clinical expertise relevant to oncology nursing and maintaining adherence to the ANA Code of Ethics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to ensure a safe care environment.
• Maintain and care for central lines and implement measures to prevent surgical site infections according to policy.
• Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and provide patient and family education to support quality outcomes.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance safety, and communicate findings effectively to the healthcare team.
• Document all patient care activities and quality monitoring data to support clinical decision-making and compliance with quality standards.
• Communicate patient information clearly to physicians and team members to improve outcomes.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Engage with patients and families promptly to enhance their experience and provide education supporting health outcomes.

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Experience

At least one year of nursing experience is preferred.

Certification and Licensure

• Current RN license valid in the state or compact licensure.

• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Mental and Physical Requirements
