General Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers direct patient care by applying the nursing process with clinical expertise tailored to acute medical settings. Adherence to the ANA Code of Ethics and hospital policies ensures the highest standards of care and patient safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Implement patient safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to maintain a secure care environment.
• Manage central lines and prevent surgical site infections following established guidelines.
• Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and provide education to patients and families to promote health outcomes.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status and communicate findings effectively to the healthcare team.
• Document all care activities and quality measures accurately to support clinical decisions and compliance.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability among staff.
• Engage with patients and families promptly to enhance their experience and understanding of care plans.

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Experience

At least one year of nursing experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Requirements

• Current RN license valid in the state or through Compact Licensure; graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
