Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Experience

At least one year of critical care or equivalent nursing experience is necessary. Experience in interventional cardiac catheterization lab settings is advantageous.

Certification and Licensure

Current Registered Nurse license valid in the state or through compact licensure. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Ensure patient safety by following established protocols for infection prevention, safe handling, and critical lab notifications.
• Deliver high-quality nursing care including medication administration, interventions, and patient/family education.
• Participate in quality monitoring and process improvement initiatives.
• Administer conscious sedation, peri-procedural pharmacologic agents, and emergency medications safely.
• Conduct thorough initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status and support care decisions.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities, vital signs, cardiac rhythms, medications, and supplies used during procedures.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, healthcare team members, patients, and families to enhance outcomes and patient experience.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Adapt positively to changes in healthcare dynamics and pursue ongoing professional development.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role demands considerable mental focus and physical stamina, including frequent heavy lifting, extended standing periods wearing lead aprons, and the ability to perform CPR. The nurse must be capable of applying pressure post-procedure and handling biohazardous materials safely.

Working Conditions

Exposure to communicable diseases, radiation, and potentially hostile situations may occur. Full lead attire is required for safety during procedures.
