Join a dedicated healthcare team in the Midwest region as an Allergy Medical Assistant, providing essential patient care under the guidance of licensed nurses, physicians, or advanced practice providers. This part-time day shift role requires a well-organized, professional individual with excellent customer service skills and the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure patient safety by adhering to infection prevention protocols and safe patient handling procedures.
• Assist patients by escorting them to exam rooms, obtaining vital signs, performing EKGs, and verifying medications, allergies, and medical histories.
• Document patient information accurately and promptly in electronic health records.
• Manage communication by routing phone messages, answering patient inquiries, and assisting with physician return calls.
• Support medication management including renewals, authorizations, and administration of oral, IM, and SQ medications as ordered.
• Perform point-of-care lab testing and collect specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Schedule appointments, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures as directed by providers.
• Maintain supply inventory, clean and stock exam areas, and assist with patient education on electronic health tools.
• Help orient and train new medical assistants, demonstrating teamwork and accountability.

Education

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant or Medical Specialist program is required, or equivalent experience. A high school diploma is necessary.

Experience

At least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant or similar medical specialist is preferred but not mandatory. Experience in a medical clinic setting is advantageous.

Certifications and Licenses

• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential from an accredited organization such as the American Medical Technologist (AMT) is preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.

Physical and Mental Requirements

This role demands considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching. Frequent exposure to infectious diseases and communicable fluids is expected, requiring adherence to safety protocols.
