General Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers direct patient care by applying the nursing process with clinical expertise tailored to psychiatric nursing. Adherence to the ANA Code of Ethics and best practices is essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Implement established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to ensure a secure care environment.
• Maintain central lines and prevent surgical site infections following policy guidelines.
• Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and provide education to patients and families to support recovery and health outcomes.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance quality, and communicate findings effectively to the healthcare team.
• Document all care activities and quality measures accurately to support clinical decisions and compliance.
• Collaborate and delegate within the care team to foster accountability and teamwork.
• Engage with patients and families promptly to improve their experience and understanding of care plans.
• Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to advance skills.

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Experience

At least one year of nursing experience is preferred.

Requirements

• Current RN license valid in the state or Compact Licensure.
• Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Mental and Physical Demands

This role requires significant mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs, standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and reaching.

Working Conditions
