General Summary
Under the guidance of a licensed nurse (RN, LPN, or shift manager), the Patient Care Assistant (PCA) delivers direct patient care with compassion and attention to safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Adheres to established healthcare policies focused on patient safety, including infection control, safe patient handling, and timely communication of any changes in patient condition to licensed nursing staff. Performs basic patient care tasks such as monitoring vital signs, glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility activities. All duties are performed within established protocols to ensure quality outcomes and patient safety. Collaborates closely with nursing staff to meet patients' fundamental needs and promptly responds to patient requests to enhance their overall experience. Accurately documents all patient care activities to support clinical decision-making and communicates relevant patient information to the healthcare team to improve outcomes.

Education
High school diploma or GED preferred.

Experience
At least one year of experience and certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred.

Certification/License
If uncertified or with less than one year of experience, candidates must complete a PCA training academy. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided.

Mental/Physical Requirements
This role requires significant mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., turning, standing, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, reaching, and frequent walking.

Working Conditions
Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
