Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, providing compassionate and expert care in a busy Emergency Department setting. This role offers the opportunity to deliver life-saving nursing care during late mid shifts, from 1PM-1AM and 3PM-3AM.

General Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers direct patient care by applying the nursing process with clinical expertise tailored to emergency nursing. Adherence to the ANA Code of Ethics and hospital policies ensures a safe and supportive environment for patients and staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Implement patient safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications.
• Maintain central lines and prevent surgical site infections according to established guidelines.
• Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and provide education to patients and families.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status and support clinical decision-making.
• Document all care activities and quality measures accurately to enhance patient outcomes.
• Communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare team members to coordinate care.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Engage patients and families with timely communication to improve their healthcare experience.
• Apply critical thinking and pursue continuing education to advance nursing skills.

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Experience

At least one year of nursing experience is preferred.

Certification and Licensure

• Current RN license in a state with Compact Licensure or equivalent.
• Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications are required.
• Current Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), and MANDT certifications are mandatory.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and twisting. Frequent exposure to infectious diseases and occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
