As an Advanced Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, you will play a vital role in delivering direct patient care during cardiac catheterization procedures, ensuring safety and precision throughout each phase.

General Summary

The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CIS) is responsible for performing and assisting in all aspects of cath lab procedures, including hemodynamic monitoring and electrocardiograph interpretation. This role demands accountability and expertise in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of cardiac cath lab procedures, including hemodynamic monitoring and ECG recognition.
• Serve as the first scrub assistant for adult diagnostic and interventional cases such as PTCA, stents, IVUS, Angiojet, cutting balloon, IABP, Rotoblater, and permanent pacemaker or defibrillator insertions.
• Operate fluoroscopic equipment proficiently.
• Assist in diagnostic and therapeutic electrophysiology (EP) studies, utilizing specialized EP equipment.
• Apply various radiographic injection techniques accurately.
• Manage hemodynamic recording and procedural documentation equipment, with knowledge of ACT and oximeter devices.
• Understand cardiac anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology thoroughly.
• Collaborate effectively within a multifunctional team and prioritize tasks efficiently.
• Perform sheath removal and achieve hemostasis using manual and device-assisted methods.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of a formal ARRT, RCIS, or allied health program, or at least one year of practical experience in the health field is necessary.

Experience

Preferred candidates will have a minimum of two years’ experience in an interventional cardiac cath lab. Experience with peripheral vascular angiography and interventions is a plus.

Certification and Licenses

• BLS certification is mandatory.
• ACLS certification is required.
• IABP experience within six months of hire is expected.
• Must hold CCI-RCIS and/or ARRT credentials.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role requires constant standing and walking, frequent stooping, crouching, and twisting, and occasional kneeling, squatting, and sitting. The ability to wear lead aprons during procedures is essential. Candidates must be capable of supporting, pushing, pulling, or lifting weights ranging from 10 to 50 pounds as needed.
