General Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering patient-centered care using the nursing process, demonstrating clinical expertise relevant to the specialty area, and upholding the ANA Code of Ethics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to ensure optimal patient safety.
• Maintain and care for central lines and implement measures to prevent surgical site infections according to policy.
• Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and provide education to patients and families to support positive health outcomes.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance quality, and communicate findings effectively to the healthcare team.
• Document all patient care activities and quality monitoring data to support clinical decisions and compliance with quality standards.
• Collaborate and communicate with physicians and team members to improve patient outcomes, delegating tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Engage patients and families with timely communication and education to enhance their healthcare experience.
• Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to develop professional skills.

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Experience

At least one year of nursing experience is preferred.

Certification and Licensure

• Current RN license in the state of practice or Compact Licensure.
• Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
