As a Registered Nurse in the Float Pool, you will deliver direct patient care by applying the nursing process and demonstrating clinical proficiency aligned with professional nursing standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to ensure a secure care environment.
• Maintain central lines and implement surgical site infection prevention measures according to policy.
• Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and educate patients and families to promote optimal health outcomes.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance quality, and support clinical decision-making.
• Document all patient care activities and quality metrics accurately to comply with healthcare standards.
• Communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare team members to improve patient outcomes.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Engage patients and families with timely communication and education to enhance their healthcare experience.
• Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to develop skills.

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Experience

At least one year of nursing experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Licenses and Certifications

• Current RN license valid in the state or Compact Licensure.
• Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Physical and Mental Requirements

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, stooping, and reaching. Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases is expected, along with occasional encounters with challenging individuals.
