General Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering quality nursing care, including medication administration, nursing interventions, and patient and family education, all within established policies to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety protocols such as infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to maintain a safe care environment.
• Maintain and care for central lines and prevent surgical site infections according to policy.
• Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, improve quality, and support clinical decision-making.
• Document all patient care activities and quality monitoring items to comply with standards and enhance communication.
• Effectively communicate patient information to physicians and team members to improve outcomes.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Engage with patients and families to enhance their experience and provide education supporting health outcomes.
• Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to develop skills.

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing school is required.

Experience

At least one year of nursing experience is preferred.

Certification and Licensure

• Current RN license in the state or Compact Licensure.
• Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role requires considerable mental concentration and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and twisting.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
