General Summary
The position demands exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for greeting patients, answering calls promptly, and ensuring smooth scheduling and registration processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to telephone inquiries and direct calls appropriately.
- Welcome patients warmly and communicate clearly with patients and their families.
- Accurately collect and enter demographic and insurance information into the system.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to privacy regulations regarding patient information.
- Schedule appointments following established protocols.
- Assist patients and guardians with patient portal setup and registration.
- Make confirmation calls and guide patients to complete necessary paperwork online.
- Demonstrate compassion and respect in all interactions.
- Take and process messages efficiently.
- Update patient demographic and other required forms at each encounter.
- Verify insurance coverage and collect co-payments at the time of service.
- Inform patients about their financial responsibilities related to insurance coverage.
- Work independently while meeting attendance and punctuality standards.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. Preference given to graduates of accredited medical receptionist programs or candidates with two years of healthcare experience.
Experience
Preferably two years of experience in a general medical office or similar healthcare setting, with demonstrated customer service skills and responsibility.
Certification/License
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
Mental/Physical Requirements
This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a medical office environment with occasional exposure to infectious diseases and challenging individuals. Minimal physical discomfort is expected.
