Join a dedicated healthcare team in the Midwest region as a Student Nurse Intern specializing in Surgical Orthopedics. Under the guidance of a licensed nurse, you will engage in hands-on patient care, supporting individuals through various stages of recovery and treatment.

General Summary

In this role, you will assist with daily hygiene tasks such as bathing, hair care, oral hygiene, and personal grooming, tailored to patients' age and developmental needs. You will provide skin care while taking precautions to prevent breakdown, help with physical activities including repositioning, ambulation, range of motion exercises, and transfers.

Nutrition support includes preparing patients for meals, assisting with feeding, monitoring intake, and ensuring dietary restrictions are followed. You will collect specimens, perform vital signs, document intake and output, and assist with specialized care such as sit baths, postmortem care, and application of therapeutic devices.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support performance improvement initiatives and foster teamwork.
• Perform technical nursing procedures within credentialed scope, including oxygen therapy management, catheter insertion/removal, intravenous therapy discontinuation, nasopharyngeal suctioning, dressing changes, wound care, and skin management.
• Conduct patient assessments and collaborate closely with primary nurses.
• Administer intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, manage NG tubes, and educate patients and families alongside nursing staff.
• Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all patient care activities.

Education

Currently enrolled in a nursing program or completed nursing education but not yet licensed.

Experience

Entry-level position; no prior experience required.

Requirements

Strong mental focus and physical stamina are essential, including frequent walking, lifting, and various physical movements. Exposure to infectious and communicable diseases is common, requiring adherence to safety protocols.
