The Community Outreach Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the mission of the Mid Missouri Area Health Education Center (AHEC) by fostering community engagement, facilitating health career pipeline activities, and managing outreach communications. This entry-level position involves coordinating events, building relationships, supporting student outreach, and assisting with marketing efforts to promote healthcare careers and strengthen partnerships across the Midwest region.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong connections with schools, colleges, community organizations, and healthcare partners, especially in rural areas.
• Represent AHEC at career fairs, expos, community gatherings, and partner meetings.
• Identify and pursue new outreach and collaboration opportunities aligned with AHEC programs.
• Serve as a primary contact for partners interested in AHEC initiatives.
• Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing pipeline programs and events.
• Prepare outreach materials, presentations, and manage event logistics consistent with branding guidelines.
• Maintain calendars, participation records, documentation, and follow-up communications for evaluation and reporting purposes.
• Support marketing and communications efforts including social media, digital content creation, event promotion, and photo documentation.

Education

Associate degree in education, communications, public health, social services, or a related field preferred; alternatively, a High School diploma combined with relevant experience is required.

Experience and Requirements

Strong communication skills and the ability to concentrate and interpret diverse information while managing multiple marketing and outreach projects simultaneously are essential. The role requires the ability to transport oneself throughout various facilities and lift or carry up to 10 pounds. Moderate travel using a personal vehicle is expected, including limited overnight stays, with mileage reimbursed.
