As a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) Trainee, you will work under the guidance of licensed nurses (RN, LPN, or shift managers) to provide essential direct patient care in a supportive and safe environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention and safe patient handling.
• Assist with basic patient care tasks such as monitoring vital signs, glucometer checks, toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility support.
• Collaborate closely with nursing staff to meet patient needs promptly and enhance their overall experience.
• Accurately document patient care activities to support clinical decision-making.
• Communicate relevant patient information to healthcare team members to improve outcomes and quality of care.

Education

High school diploma or GED is preferred.

Experience

One year of experience and certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred.

Certification and Training

If uncertified and with less than one year of experience, attendance at a PCA training academy is required. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as turning, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
