This full-time night shift role involves collaborating with fellow pharmacists to expertly compound and dispense medications and IV supplies, ensuring patient safety and optimal therapeutic outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately enter and verify medication orders using Meditech, avoiding duplications and errors.
• Respond to inquiries from pharmacy staff, nursing, and physicians by researching medication information through Meditech and other resources.
• Utilize Omni Server reports to resolve discrepancies efficiently.
• Review physician orders for accuracy, clarifying any uncertainties directly with prescribers and documenting interactions.
• Check for duplicate therapies, drug interactions, adverse reactions, and inappropriate orders.
• Ensure dispensed medications match prescriber orders through thorough verification processes.
• Operate pharmacy automation systems and software, including timely filling of dispensing system canisters.
• Perform safety checks such as barcode scanning and visual inspections during first dose checks, cart fills, and automated dispensing cabinet restocking.
• Verify and sign off on all Unit Dose repackaging activities.
• Maintain competency in IV room procedures and prepare compounded sterile products using aseptic techniques, documenting chemotherapy treatments accurately.
• Manage inventory by putting away excess supplies, cleaning hoods, and completing USP 797 documentation daily.
• Verify narcotic counts after each withdrawal and complete narcotic paperwork promptly, resolving discrepancies immediately.
• Receive and document controlled substances appropriately.
• Participate actively in selected committees and provide timely, comprehensive drug information to healthcare professionals and patients.
• Assist in pharmacist hiring and precept pharmacy students.
• Support the Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator in enhancing pharmaceutical care and drug therapy management.
• Complete all clinical activities daily and document accordingly.
• Fulfill all mandatory annual education requirements.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited college of pharmacy is required.

Experience

One year of hospital pharmacy experience or internship is preferred.

Licensure and Certification

Must hold or be able to obtain a pharmacist license within 90 days in the relevant state. Active membership in pharmacy organizations is encouraged.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role requires considerable mental concentration for extended periods and physical activities including standing, walking, sitting, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
