As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) specializing in Medical Oncology, you will deliver direct patient care using the nursing process, demonstrating clinical competence and adhering to professional ethical standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to ensure a safe care environment.
• Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and provide patient and family education within the scope of practical nursing practice.
• Conduct ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance quality, and support clinical decision-making.
• Collaborate closely with supervising RNs or shift managers to meet patient needs effectively.
• Document all patient care activities and quality monitoring data to comply with healthcare standards.
• Communicate patient information to physicians and healthcare team members to improve outcomes.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Engage with patients and families to enhance their experience and support health education.
• Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to develop skills.

Education

Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program is required.

Experience

One year of practical nursing experience is preferred.

Certification and Licensure

Current LPN license valid in the state or through compact licensure is required. Graduate Practical Nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and stooping.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
