As an Analytical BI Developer, you will translate business requests into technical specifications, analyze data, and maintain and create reporting content for various applications.

General Summary

The BI Developer collaborates with Epic analysts, end users, and external vendors to understand and fulfill reporting needs. Success in this role requires a blend of technical expertise and operational insight to ensure reports align with user workflows.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assess, create, and maintain reporting solutions for end users and external vendors using Epic and Workday platforms.
• Utilize Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer, and SQL to develop and refine reports.
• Evaluate and clarify reporting requests, working closely with users to finalize requirements.
• Design and document functional requirements and technical specifications for reports, dashboards, and related databases.
• Provide documentation and demonstrations to facilitate knowledge transfer and operational support.
• Maintain quality control of delivered reports and validate system builds and designs.
• Conduct audits and report findings related to security and data controls.
• Participate in stakeholder meetings across clinical, revenue, executive, and IT groups, documenting key points and decisions.
• Recommend improvements to guidelines, standards, and methodologies as appropriate.
• Communicate complex technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Collaborate effectively with team members to resolve workflow issues and assist users in understanding reporting content.
• Organize and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, escalating conflicts as needed.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business, computer science, information systems, statistics, or related field, or 2+ years of relevant experience.

Experience

• Minimum one year of experience designing and developing Business Intelligence tools.
• Preferred experience with EMR reporting or healthcare data systems.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, SQL Server querying, and relational database concepts is advantageous.

Certifications

Epic accreditation or certification in areas such as Cogito, Cogito Tools Administration, Clarity Data Model, Caboodle Data Model, Clinical/Access/Revenue Data Model, Research Informatics Core, Radar SQL Metrics, SlicerDicer Custom Build, or Cogito SQL is preferred.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role requires significant mental focus to manage variable duties and multiple deadlines with frequent interruptions. Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, and occasional light lifting (up to 25 lbs).
