General Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers direct patient care by applying the nursing process with clinical expertise tailored to the acute medical environment. Adherence to the ANA Code of Ethics and hospital policies ensures the highest standards of care and patient safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Implement patient safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to maintain a secure care environment.
• Manage and maintain central lines and prevent surgical site infections following established guidelines.
• Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and provide education to patients and families to promote health outcomes.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance quality, and support clinical decision-making.
• Document all care activities and quality measures accurately to comply with regulatory standards.
• Communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare team members to optimize patient outcomes.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Engage patients and families with timely communication and education to improve the care experience.
• Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to develop professional skills.

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Experience

At least one year of nursing experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Requirements

• Current RN license valid in the state or compact licensure accepted. Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Mental and Physical Demands

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and reaching.
