Join a dedicated healthcare team in the Midwest region as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) specializing in surgical orthopedics. This role involves providing direct patient care through the nursing process, demonstrating clinical competence, and adhering to professional nursing ethics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to maintain a safe care environment.
• Deliver quality nursing care such as medication administration, nursing interventions, and patient and family education.
• Operate within the Practical Nurse Scope of Practice and organizational policies to support positive patient outcomes and safety.
• Conduct ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance quality, and provide accurate information to the healthcare team.
• Collaborate closely with supervising RNs or shift managers to meet patient needs effectively.
• Document all patient care activities and quality monitoring data to support clinical decisions and compliance.
• Communicate patient information clearly to physicians and team members to improve outcomes.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Engage with patients and families promptly to enhance their experience and provide health education.
• Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to develop skills.

Education

Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program is required.

Experience

One year of practical nursing experience is preferred.

Certification and Licensure

• Current LPN license valid in the state or through compact licensure.
• Graduate Practical Nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This position requires considerable mental concentration and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and twisting.
