General Summary

The Accountant is responsible for preparing complete and accurate financial and statistical records for the Finance Division, Administration, and Board of Trustees, working under close supervision and detailed review by the Controller.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Organize and produce monthly financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Conduct ongoing evaluations to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the general ledger.
• Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts.
• Provide accounting support and guidance to department staff and assist with interdepartmental accounting concerns.
• Take ownership of cost control and quality improvement within assigned areas.
• Complete accounting activities required by regulations and management requests promptly and accurately.
• Support additional projects and analytics as directed by the Controller or CFO to identify cost reduction and revenue generation opportunities, as well as facility-wide and departmental initiatives.

Education

Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from an accredited institution or equivalent education and experience required. A Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience

Minimum of two years of accounting experience required. Professional experience in healthcare is preferred. Proficiency with spreadsheet software such as Excel is essential.

Certification/License

CPA certification is preferred but not mandatory.

Mental/Physical Requirements

This role requires normal attention with periods of considerable mental concentration. The work is primarily sedentary with extensive computer use. Ability to handle stacks of accounting reports weighing up to 10 pounds is necessary.
