You will be the welcoming face and first point of contact, guiding patients through registration, appointment scheduling, and insurance verification with warmth and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a friendly and efficient environment for patients, addressing their needs and supporting them throughout their initial healthcare experience.
  • Collect and accurately enter patient demographic information, including insurance details, into the system.
  • Update patient records as needed and obtain necessary consents and forms.
  • Verify insurance coverage through direct contact or electronic systems, ensuring proper pre-authorizations and referrals are secured.
  • Explain insurance benefits and financial responsibilities clearly to patients.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by promptly answering calls, addressing concerns, and offering information.
  • Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
  • Collect co-pays, deductibles, and other payments in line with organizational policies.
  • Support efficient claims processing and patient satisfaction by managing work queues effectively.
  • Assist patients in navigating the online patient portal.
  • Adapt to shifting work assignments and priorities as needed.

Education

High School Diploma or GED is required.

Experience

Preferred experience includes at least six months in office, call center, customer service, or healthcare settings. Familiarity with computers and standard office equipment is essential. Proficiency in data entry and graduation from an accredited medical receptionist program or two years in healthcare is advantageous.

Certifications

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.

Mental and Physical Requirements

Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail under time constraints is necessary. The role involves extensive computer use with frequent interruptions, standing, walking, sitting, reaching, and assisting patients in wheelchairs. Ability to lift up to 10 pounds is required.

Working Conditions

Standard office environment with occasional exposure to noise, fumes, chemicals, hazards, and diseases. Flexibility to work various shifts is expected.
