As a Patient Care Assistant (PCA), you will work under the supervision of licensed nurses (RN, LPN, or shift managers) to deliver direct support to patients, ensuring their comfort and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention and safe patient handling.
• Perform basic patient care tasks such as monitoring vital signs, glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility.
• Collaborate closely with nursing staff to promptly respond to patient needs and enhance their overall experience.
• Accurately document all patient care activities to support clinical decision-making.
• Communicate relevant patient information to healthcare team members to improve outcomes and quality of care.

Education

A high school diploma or GED is preferred.

Experience

At least one year of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred.

Certification and Training

If uncertified or with less than one year of experience, candidates must complete a specialized PCA training academy. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and bending.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
