This full-time, day-shift Medical Assistant role supports pediatric care by working closely with licensed nurses, physicians, and advanced practice providers. Key Responsibilities

• Ensure patient safety by following infection control and safe handling protocols.
• Provide direct patient care including escorting patients, obtaining vital signs, EKGs, and documenting medical histories and visit reasons accurately.
• Manage communication by routing phone messages, answering patient questions, and assisting with physician return calls.
• Assist with medication renewals, authorizations, and administration (oral, IM, SQ) as ordered.
• Perform point-of-care lab testing and collect specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Schedule appointments, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures as directed by providers.
• Complete necessary paperwork, prior authorizations, and referrals promptly.
• Maintain exam room supplies and cleanliness, and educate patients on electronic health record access.
• Support orientation and training of new medical assistants.

Education

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant or Medical Specialist program, or equivalent experience. High school diploma required.

Experience

At least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant or similar role preferred, especially in a clinical setting.

Certifications and Licenses

Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs, walking, standing, and various movements such as stooping and reaching. Frequent exposure to infectious diseases and occasional challenging interactions may occur.
