Job Summary

As the Emergency Department RN Educator, you will ensure that nurses, physicians, and other healthcare personnel maintain their competencies in emergency care practices. You will oversee compliance with regulatory standards and provide ongoing training on best practices, new technologies, and evidence-based care.

Responsibilities

• Create and deliver comprehensive orientation programs for ED staff, including nurses, technicians, coordinators, and agency personnel.
• Conduct regular training sessions on emergency protocols, clinical procedures, and new medical equipment.
• Facilitate certification and continuing education programs such as ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC, BLS, and MANDT.
• Organize simulation-based training and drills for critical care scenarios in collaboration with simulation coordinators.
• Assess and evaluate clinical competencies through direct observation and skill validation, providing individualized coaching as needed.
• Assist in developing and implementing protocols for trauma, stroke, cardiac, and sepsis care.
• Stay current with advancements in emergency medicine to keep the department up-to-date.
• Collaborate with ED leadership on quality improvement and workflow enhancements to optimize patient care and operational efficiency.
• Serve as a resource for staff, offering guidance on clinical challenges and evidence-based practices.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.

Education

Registered Nurse (RN) license required; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.

Experience

Minimum of 3-5 years of emergency nursing experience is essential. Prior experience in nursing education, staff development, or clinical instruction is highly desirable.

Licensure and Certifications

Current RN license in the practicing state. Certifications required include BLS, ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, and NIHSS. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) certification is a plus.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role demands considerable mental focus and physical activity, including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as stooping and reaching.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases is possible. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur. The position mirrors typical RN working conditions.

Schedule

Monday through Friday with potential flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, depending on training needs.
