General Summary: The Mammography Technologist delivers compassionate patient care using mammographic equipment, accurately documenting exams for radiologist interpretation. This role is vital in supporting early detection and diagnosis through high-quality imaging services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate mammography equipment in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
• Accurately interpret and follow physician orders.
• Demonstrate skills and abilities aligned with scope of practice, training, and licensure.
• Assess and care for patients across various age groups.
• Maintain patient and departmental records diligently.
• Support data collection and ensure compliance with MQSA and ACR standards.
• Take responsibility for aspects of quality control and radiation safety programs.

Education: Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technologist training program is required.

Experience: One year of experience as a mammography technologist is preferred.

Certification/License: Candidates must be either a currently registered radiologic technologist (ARRT(R)) undergoing mammography training per MQSA guidelines and willing to pass the mammography registry when eligible, or a registered mammography technologist (ARRT(M)).

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position requires close mental and visual attention for extended periods. The technologist must be able to transport themselves throughout the department and perform physical activities including standing, walking, sitting, lifting up to 35 lbs, turning, pushing, pulling, and stooping. The role often involves working under stressful conditions due to patient needs and customer demands.

Working Conditions: Potential exposure to infectious diseases, unpleasant odors, anesthetics, disinfectants, chemicals, and controlled radiation. The position may require being on call regularly or as scheduled.
