General Summary

As an SBO Billing Specialist, you will manage inbound and outbound communications to address patient inquiries and resolve outstanding balances. Your role is vital in explaining coinsurance, copays, deductibles, contractual adjustments, and discounts, while also assisting patients with payment options such as monthly plans and bank loan financing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide primary customer service for patient billing questions and concerns.
• Resolve complaints related to billing and clarify insurance coverage details.
• Contact guarantors regarding past due balances and process payments securely.
• Offer payment plans and financing options within policy guidelines.
• Screen and assist patients with financial assistance applications.
• Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines when handling patient information.
• Distinguish billing issues from patient care concerns and escalate appropriately.
• Reconcile business banking and credit card accounts.

Education

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional training in healthcare billing or customer service is preferred.

Experience

Previous experience in medical billing is highly preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with billing software and electronic data submission are advantageous.

Requirements

Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage repetitive tasks are essential.
