As an Assistant Patient Care Technician, you will work under the guidance of licensed nurses to deliver direct patient care that promotes safety, comfort, and recovery.

General Summary

Under the supervision of a registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, or shift manager, you will assist with vital patient care tasks, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and timely communication of patient condition changes.
• Perform basic care duties such as monitoring vital signs, conducting glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and encouraging patient mobility.
• Collaborate closely with nursing staff to meet patient needs promptly and enhance their overall experience.
• Accurately document all care activities to support clinical decision-making and continuity of care.
• Effectively communicate relevant patient information to healthcare team members to improve outcomes.

Education

High school diploma or GED is preferred.

Experience

At least one year of experience in a similar role is preferred.

Certification/License

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential through the state is preferred. Candidates without certification or with less than one year of experience will be required to complete a specialized Patient Care Assistant training program. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role requires significant mental focus and physical activity, including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, bending, and other movements necessary to assist patients safely.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional interactions with difficult individuals may occur.
