This part-time Registered Nurse (RN) role focuses on delivering direct patient care through the nursing process, demonstrating clinical expertise, and adhering to professional ethical standards.

General Summary

The PreOp RN is responsible for comprehensive patient assessments, medication administration, nursing interventions, and patient and family education, all aimed at ensuring safety and quality outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to maintain an optimal care environment.
• Provide high-quality nursing care, including medication administration and patient teaching, within established policies and procedures.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance safety, and communicate findings effectively to the healthcare team.
• Document all patient care activities accurately to support compliance with quality measures.
• Communicate pertinent patient information to physicians and team members to improve outcomes.
• Engage patients and families with timely communication that promotes understanding and supports health outcomes.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred; graduation from an accredited nursing program required.

Experience

At least one year of healthcare experience preferred.

Requirements

• Current RN license in a Compact State or the state of employment.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.

Mental and Physical Requirements

Requires considerable mental focus, frequent walking, lifting up to 35 lbs, and various physical activities such as standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.
