As an Echo/Vascular Sonographer, you will perform cardiac and vascular ultrasound procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the diagnostic process.

General Summary

This role involves conducting diagnostic patient care using ultrasound and related procedures within the scope of practice defined by law and departmental policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, contrast agent administration, and safe patient handling.
• Perform clinical assessments and diagnostic sonography exams with precision.
• Utilize cognitive sonographic skills to adapt procedures based on anatomical and pathological findings.
• Analyze sonograms, integrate sonographic data with medical history, and communicate results to physicians.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during examinations.
• Maintain ultrasound equipment and supplies, reporting malfunctions and reordering as needed.
• Participate in maintaining laboratory accreditation and quality assurance processes.
• Exercise independent judgment to distinguish between normal and abnormal findings.

Education

Completion of a Cardiac/Vascular Sonographer program is required. Candidates must be eligible to sit for the RDCS and/or RVT or equivalent cardiovascular credentialing.

Experience

At least one year of experience in adult cardiac or vascular sonography is necessary.

Certification/License

• RDCS and/or RVT certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
• Registration in Echocardiography or Vascular Ultrasound within 18 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.

Mental/Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent standing, walking, lifting up to 150 lbs, and various physical movements such as pushing, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching. It also demands sustained mental concentration.

Working Conditions
