General Summary: Under the guidance of a licensed nurse (RN, LPN, or shift manager), the Assistant Patient Care Technician provides direct, compassionate patient care in a supportive healthcare environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and promptly notify nursing staff of any changes in patient condition to maintain a secure care setting.
• Perform basic patient care tasks such as monitoring vital signs, glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility activities, all within established policies to promote quality outcomes.
• Collaborate closely with nursing personnel to meet patients' fundamental needs and respond swiftly to requests, enhancing patient safety and overall experience.
• Accurately document all patient care activities to support clinical decision-making by the healthcare team.
• Effectively communicate relevant patient information to team members to improve care quality and patient outcomes.

Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.

Experience: One year of experience and certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred.

Certification/License: Candidates without certification or with less than one year of experience must complete a specialized Patient Care Assistant training program. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This role requires significant mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, turning, standing, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, reaching, and frequent walking.

Working Conditions: Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
