General Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers direct patient care by applying the nursing process and demonstrating clinical expertise relevant to oncology nursing. Adherence to the ANA Code of Ethics and hospital policies ensures the highest standards of patient safety and care quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Implement patient safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to maintain a secure care environment.
• Manage and care for central lines while preventing surgical site infections according to established guidelines.
• Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and provide education to patients and families to support positive health outcomes.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance safety, and inform the healthcare team.
• Document all patient care activities and quality measures accurately to support clinical decisions.
• Communicate effectively with physicians and team members to optimize patient outcomes.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Experience

At least one year of nursing experience is preferred.

Certification and Licensure

• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
